Chintalapudi is a rural town in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Chintalapudi is Taluk Headquarters for Chintalapudi Taluk. In fact, Chintalapudi Taluk is one of the biggest taluks in Andhra Pradesh. Due to its geographic location and several other towns in the vicinity, its growth has been slow vis-a-vis others areas of Andhra Pradesh. It's a good trading center for near-by hamlets and smaller villages. Chintalapudi is one of the oldest settlements based on scriptures and excavations. Chintalapudi has a population of 67,100 according to 2001 Census.

It's a residential and business place for medium, small and marginal Farm owners and farm hands. Agriculture is the mainstay. Most of the area is semi-arid and depends on rain water. Recently there is some progress based on lift-water irrigation.
