|
Mezen (Russian: Мезень) is a river in the European part of Russia, flowing into the White Sea. Its length is 857 km. Its source is in the Timan hills in Komi Republic, west of the northern Ural Mountains. It flows roughly in north-western direction. The Mezen flows into the Mezen Bay of the White Sea near the town Mezen. Near its mouth the Peza River comes in from the east. In early days there was a river route east up the Peza, portage, and down the Tsilma River to the Pechora River.
